The Medieval town of Penne is the
nearest town to the farmhouse being just 5 minutes away.
It is a thriving town with many shops,
restaurants, bars and other facilities.
At the heart of the town and sitting
atop two hills is the historic walled part of the town dating back to
the 15th century.
The town is unusual in that it is
largely built and paved from cotto terracotta bricks, lending it a
unique appearance.
Explore the steep and narrow streets and
you will see many fine examples of baroque and medieval architecture.
Market Day is Saturday. Enjoy a "porchetta"
(roast pork in a bun) from the street vendors and explore the many
colourful and interesting stalls. |
